Nature Has to Be Nurtured

Nature has always been my greatest teacher. Every season—whether it is the gentle chill of winter, the warmth of summer, or the vibrant bloom of spring—reminds me of how blessed we are to live on this beautiful planet. Yet, it also reminds me of our duty to protect it.

At St. Britto’s, we celebrate World Environment Day not just as an event, but as a movement. Our students take eco-pledges, join clean-up drives, create art from waste, and even learn composting. Watching them embrace small yet meaningful changes—carrying cloth bags, planting saplings, or recycling—fills me with hope.

I often remind my students that pollution, deforestation, and climate change are not distant problems; they are here, and they need our action. From learning about sea grass meadows that fight climate change, to understanding how simple choices like saying no to plastics make a difference, every lesson matters.

For me, nurturing nature is about nurturing responsibility. When children plant a tree, pick up a piece of litter, or simply pause to watch a butterfly, they learn that caring for the Earth is not an option—it is a way of life. And if each of us does our part, together we can leave behind a world that is greener, cleaner, and safer for generations to come.
