Reading corners have always fascinated me. They are not just shelves filled with books, but spaces of joy, imagination, and quiet transformation. Whether in a school library, a public place, or a small corner at home, a reading space has the power to make one pause, reflect, and lose oneself in the world of words.
Personally, I have always been “glued” to books. My reading corner at home is my sanctuary — a place that has shaped who I am today. The books I’ve read have expanded my knowledge, strengthened my values, and deepened my empathy. They have taught me resilience and inspired me to dream. I have always believed, just as Dr. Seuss beautifully said, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you will go.”
Reading, to me, is not just a habit; it’s a lifelong companion. It sharpens focus, broadens horizons, and offers peace in moments of chaos. For children, it sparks curiosity and imagination; for adults, it opens doors to new perspectives and keeps the mind alive with wonder. Books truly are “a uniquely portable magic” — they travel with us through every stage of life, silently shaping our thoughts and spirit.
At St. Britto’s, we believe in nurturing this love for reading from an early age. Our reading corners are designed to be welcoming spaces where children can freely explore books, newspapers, and stories that ignite their curiosity. It’s heartwarming to watch students find joy in reading — not because they have to, but because they want to. Each page they turn builds confidence, creativity, and a lifelong connection with learning.
Books, for me, are treasures that hold innocence and wisdom in equal measure. They help children dream beyond boundaries and discover the power of their own voice. As teachers and parents, the greatest gift we can offer the next generation is the joy of reading — because when a child falls in love with books, the world opens before them.
After all, today’s reader is truly tomorrow’s leader.
