Teacher’s Day – A Personal Tribute

Teacher’s Day, celebrated on 5th September, marks the birthday of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a great scholar and India’s second President. For me, it is much more than a date on the calendar—it is a day to reflect on the countless teachers who have shaped lives, including my own family.

Coming from a teaching family, I have seen firsthand the dedication of my father and mother-in-law, who poured their hearts into guiding students. Their commitment taught me that teaching is not just about sharing knowledge—it is about inspiring, nurturing, and lighting the spark of curiosity in every child.

A great teacher is patient, empathetic, and adaptable. They possess knowledge and integrity, yes, but their true gift lies in the ability to guide each student toward their potential. They are mentors, role models, and lifelong learners themselves, constantly embracing new ways to make learning meaningful.

Teachers leave footprints on our hearts. They build confidence, awaken creativity, and instill values that last a lifetime. At St. Britto’s, we celebrate Teacher’s Day with joy, gratitude, and a little fun—games, cultural programs, picnics, and appreciation cards—all small ways to honor the profound impact teachers have.

Personally, I am grateful to all the teachers I have known, seen, and experienced—the ones who guided, encouraged, and inspired. Their influence is immeasurable, and their dedication reminds me that a single teacher can indeed change a life, and perhaps even the world.

“One book, one pen, one child, and one teacher can change the world.” – Malala Yousafzai

This Teacher’s Day, I celebrate the silent heroes, the mentors, the guides—the teachers who make every effort to light a fire of knowledge and hope in every child.
