World Nutrition Day – Building Healthy Minds and Bodies

Health is the greatest wealth, and at St. Britto’s Academy, I have always felt that nurturing healthy habits from a young age lays the foundation for a lifetime of wellness. Every year, on World Nutrition Day, I see it as a beautiful opportunity for our students, teachers, and families to pause, reflect on their eating habits, and embrace a balanced, mindful lifestyle.

When I see our motto, “Eat Healthy! Live Healthy!”, come alive during our GET–UP–AND–GO sessions, I feel proud. These are not just activities on paper—they are experiences that shape the way children think about food and wellbeing. Students prepare nutritive charts, parents join in conversations about balanced meals, and even teachers reflect on their own habits. What I love most is the sense of togetherness—everyone working toward a healthier lifestyle as one big family.

I’ve noticed how these small steps make a big difference. Children learn that nutrition is not just about what you eat, but when and how you eat it. They begin to ask questions about food labels, make their own schedules, and even track their Body Mass Index (BMI) with pride. I still remember one child telling me, “Ma’am, I’ve stopped skipping breakfast because now I know why it is important.” That little moment of realization is priceless to me.

For me, World Nutrition Day is not a single event, but a gentle reminder that health is a lifelong journey. Watching my students take those first steps—choosing fruits over junk, drinking more water, or even teaching their parents about balanced diets—fills me with immense joy. It shows me that we are not just teaching lessons in classrooms, but shaping habits that will last a lifetime.

True wealth does not lie in what we own, but in how healthy and happy we are. And if our children carry this wisdom with them, I feel we’ve achieved something truly meaningful.
